Equipment Coordinator
Duties And Responsibilities
- Utilize calls, reports, jobsite visits or other methods from the project representatives to process requests for all types of equipment required to build the projects.
- Ensure appropriate equipment is provided to the projects for the application.
- Search for alternative methods to fill needs (new technology, suggesting different ways and means for completing tasks).
- Work closely with the Trucking Department dispatcher, Maintenance personnel and project teams to ensure equipment moves are scheduled and completed timely to meet the project’s requested dates.
- Attend Weekly Scheduling Meetings and all internal Preconstruction Meetings for projects requiring the equipment you manage.
- Update and maintain Equipment Schedules as required for all projects for the equipment you manage.
- Monitor equipment utilization and work to improve it through better communication with the Field and reduction of outside rental equipment.
- Notify Support Operations Management of expected shortages or excess pieces of Equipment you manage.
- Act as a liaison between the field supervision and the maintenance division supervision to maintain the equipment.
- Monitor equipment repair costs for rebuilds and renovations for potential Capitalization for the Equipment you manage.
- Monitor equipment usage weekly by comparing revenue hours to meter hours, utilizing the three-week hour meter report, to ensure equipment is billed correctly when deployed.
- Work closely with the others in the department to fill needs of equipment & materials in the most efficient manner.
- Maintain accurate locator information for equipment locations and statuses in the computer system.
- Refer to specific duties per attached Responsibilities List (Attachment A).
Education And Experience
- High school diploma required
- 5 years of experience in the construction industry
- Must be knowledgeable with different pieces of heavy equipment and their capabilities
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Skills And Abilities
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to prioritize for efficiency
- Well tempered, outgoing, and possess the willingness to deal with work issues after work hours
- Customer service oriented, with positive attitude, yet not afraid of confrontation
- Self-starter willing to take training in order to improve knowledge and skills
- Cum competent computer skills, familiar with Microsoft Office Suite of programs and Viewpoint Construction Software applications including Microsoft Outlook
- On Occasion must be willing to travel as required in order to perform job duties
- Continually work to improve the processes employed to manage equipment, through alternative methods, new technology, others' ideas and suggestions.

Qualifications

Relationships
Reports to the Works Department Manager and interacts closely with Field Supervision, Department Personnel, Maintenance Supervision & Personnel and Company Management.

The Team Member in this job must be knowledgeable about the Company’s safety policies and procedures as described in the company safety manual and associate handbook.
The Team Member must be knowledgeable in the safe operations of the equipment they manage and be willing to communicate that knowledge to others.
Supervise and mentor others as assigned.
Working Conditions
75% of job duties are performed in a temperature controlled, fluorescent-lighted environment.
Others impose 85% of the deadlines through their forecasts and scheduling, while 15% is self-imposed.
