Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently based on site and project requirements
- Perform grading, trenching, excavation, backfilling, and material movement tasks
- Load and unload materials using loaders, skid steers, or forklifts as needed
- Read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, and project layouts
- Conduct daily pre- and post-operation equipment inspections
- Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to supervisor
- Work closely with laborers, foremen, and other operators to complete tasks
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times
- Follow company and OSHA safety standards, including use of PPE
- Perform manual labor duties when equipment is not in use
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction or sitework
- Proficient in the use of excavators, backhoes, bulldozers, skid steers, and loaders
- Strong knowledge of equipment safety procedures and standard operating practices
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL is a plus
- Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and team-oriented mindset
- Willingness to work long hours, including weekends and evenings
- Willingness to travel overnight when projects are outside the local area
