About the role

The Construction Project Manager is part of Johnson Controls' Building Solutions North America business. This person leads large, complex HVAC equipment construction projects valued at $3M or more. Responsibilities include executing projects on time, within budget, and within scope, managing subcontractors, and negotiating change orders.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with and provide direction to various teams (internal & external) to execute equipment projects
  • Develop and execute project schedules
  • Evaluate contractual scope of work and impact of client directives
  • Manage costs, billings, and collections
  • Prepare and issue subcontracts
  • Ensure project document controls comply with contract requirements and JCI standards
  • Coordinate with HVAC Sales & Operations Managers, Construction Management Services, and HVAC Installation Manager
  • Facilitate escalation of product-related problems
  • Assist Area Management Team and/or sales in project development efforts
  • Coordinate customer training requirements
  • Self-perform sales support activities for select bundled projects
  • Manage project construction to comply with specifications, local codes, and installation techniques
  • Manage selection, ordering, and delivery schedule of materials
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with customers, consultants, prime contractors, and subcontractors
  • Attend job progress meetings as required
  • Ensure subcontractors understand project expectations

Requirements

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture, or an associate's degree with equivalent work experience. Five years of direct project management experience in building construction is preferred, with experience in mechanical retrofits, BAS management, and HVAC equipment preferred. Proficiency in Project Management software and financial accounting systems is required. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential, especially for communicating technical material to non-technical audiences.

The hiring salary range is $89,400-125,000, with the actual salary determined by the candidate's qualifications, internal equity, and market data. Skills

Strong personal computer skills in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project), Adobe Writer, Visio, and basic Windows environment are required. Pay
