Equipment and Facilities Manager
About the role
The Equipment & Facility Manager is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing a small team of technicians, an EHS Engineer, and an Equipment Engineer to maintain, troubleshoot, and improve critical production and facility systems within a fast-paced, customer-driven thin film job shop environment. This role provides full-site support across production and infrastructure, balancing competing priorities to ensure equipment reliability, facility integrity, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Work priorities and schedule repairs, maintenance, and equipment installations to support production needs.
- Ensure rapid and effective response to equipment and facility issues to meet production and revenue targets.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the site’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) management system.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
- Lead site safety initiatives, including the Joint Loss Management Committee (JLMC).
- Support internal and external audits and drive corrective actions.
- Ensure facility systems (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, etc.) are maintained in excellent working condition.
- Manage contractors and vendors to ensure safe, timely, and high-quality execution of work.
- Oversee the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including work order processing and resource allocation.
- Track, analyze, and report maintenance KPIs to support operational performance and decision-making.
- Identify current and future facility requirements in collaboration with site stakeholders.
- Develop and execute plans to support capacity, layout, and infrastructure needs.
- Lead and support facility-related capital and improvement projects.
- Ensure proper preparation and execution of infrastructure requirements for new equipment installations.
- Perform additional duties and projects as required to support business needs.
Requirements
- 5+ years of leadership experience in equipment, maintenance, or facility management within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to lead teams supporting production-critical equipment and facility systems.
- Strong hands-on troubleshooting capability with mechanical and electrical systems.
- Demonstrated success in high-uptime, fast-paced production environments.
- Experience managing EHS programs and regulatory compliance (ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 preferred).
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple competing demands.
- Effective communication and documentation skills.
- Experience with CMMS systems and maintenance KPI tracking.
- Able to work independently and drive accountability across a team.
- Willingness to support off-hours operations as needed.
- Experience supporting thin film, semiconductor, cleanroom, vacuum, or other highly controlled manufacturing environments preferred.
