Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement integration solutions between Epic EHR and external healthcare systems
- Define scalable interoperability frameworks for multi-system healthcare environments
- Lead integration design across clinical, operational, and financial systems
- Develop and manage integrations using Epic Bridges and related Epic integration tools
- Enable data exchange between Epic and:
- Laboratory systems
- Radiology systems
- Pharmacy systems
- Revenue cycle systems
- Support Epic module integrations across inpatient, outpatient, and ancillary systems
- Design and implement interfaces using HL7 v2/v3 messaging standards
- Develop and manage FHIR-based APIs for modern interoperability use cases
- Ensure data consistency, accuracy, and compliance across systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve interface issues across healthcare environments
- Work with integration engines such as:
- Mirth Connect
- Cloverleaf
- Rhapsody
- InterSystems HealthShare
- Configure, monitor, and optimize message flows and transformations
- Enable real-time and batch data exchange across systems
- Integrate medical devices with clinical applications and EHR systems
- Design secure data ingestion pipelines from on-prem devices to enterprise systems
- Enable interoperability with third-party healthcare applications and partner systems
- Perform interface testing, validation, and certification
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and data standards
- Support go-live activities and post-implementation stabilization
- Provide L2/L3 support for integration-related incidents
- Monitor interface performance and ensure high availability
- Continuously optimize integration workflows and reduce failures
Required Experience
- 15+ years of experience in healthcare IT with strong focus on system integration
- Proven expertise in Epic EHR integration
- Strong hands-on experience with HL7 and FHIR standards
- Experience working with integration engines (Mirth, Cloverleaf, Rhapsody, etc.)
- Deep understanding of healthcare workflows and hospital systems
- Experience integrating clinical systems, medical devices, and enterprise applications
Preferred Qualifications
- Epic Certification (Bridges or relevant modules preferred)
- Experience working with large hospital systems or healthcare providers
- Familiarity with cloud-based healthcare integrations (Azure/AWS)
- Knowledge of healthcare data standards and compliance requirements
