Responsibilities
- Performs analysis, troubleshooting, and problem solving of simple and intermediate issues at the technical, interface and application levels.
- Identifies root-cause, recommends, tests, and implements changes.
- Collaborates with Epic technical support teams, vendors, and other IS Application teams as needed to address complex technical issues.
- Communicates problems, issues and potential solutions to team members, clients, and organizational administration.
- Understands integration between various applications and functionality within those applications.
- Serves to assure full integration of systems and devices utilizing interfacing standards and vendor provided utilities.
- Provides customer service and acts as a liaison between the operational departments and Information Services.
- Utilizes expertise to design, build, install, modify, and test application software to support and optimize operational processes.
- Clearly defines and articulates to operational stakeholders’ workflow changes that are offered with software/hardware upgrades and best practice solutions as recommended by the vendor.
- Assists with defining and documenting user requirements and system scope.
- Reviews and collects information regarding potential system enhancements.
- Maintains thorough documentation of configurations, customizations, and support processes.
- Complies with all applicable guidelines, policies, and procedures of Penn Medicine to ensure necessary controls, documentation, and audit trails.
Qualifications
- Epic Certification, Proficiency, or Accreditation is preferred.
- H.S. Diploma/GED and 6+ years of relevant experience working within Healthcare Applications or Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems is required.
- OR Associate's degree and 5+ years of relevant experience working within Healthcare Applications or Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems is required.
- OR Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of relevant experience working within Healthcare Applications or Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems is preferred.
