We are seeking a highly motivated, well-organized individual to join Siemens Energy’s US Technical Sales Team within Grid Technologies Services. Our ideal candidate will have experience in Electrical Substations EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) and Turnkey proposals.

About the role

The Lead Estimator/Proposal Specialist will work with Siemens Energy sales teams and customers to develop proposals for Electrical Substations, Equipment maintenance contracts, Construction, and Operation and Maintenance contracts. This role supports Service bids/tenders/proposals/offers for EPC projects, primarily in brownfield environments.

You will collaborate with Siemens Energy account managers, Business Unit Sales, and other Siemens Energy Business Units to identify proper strategy and scopes of work. Our service offering centers around transmission substations, including maintenance of key components, entire substations, and substation turnkey projects. Services include:

  • GIS/AIS Substation EPC
  • Transformer Maintenance
  • Breaker Maintenance
  • GIS/AIS Maintenance
  • Long-Term Service Agreements (LTSA) for substations and their assets

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Marketing to understand and influence efforts supporting Sales activities.
  • Support leadership in collecting voice of customer (VOC) data to advance new product development, upgrades, and service offerings.
  • Ensure proper utilization of customer relationship management software (CRM-Salesforce).
  • Train on tools to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Communicate effectively with business development managers, Operations Managers, and Service Engineers.
  • Support the proposal team by reading tender specifications, calculating and writing proposals based on RFQs, and entering opportunities into Salesforce.
  • Work closely with the proposal team and parts business.
  • Travel as needed (~15%), both domestically and internationally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field. An Electrical Engineering Degree is a plus.
  • 8 or more years of experience in a similar role. Candidates with more experience may be considered for a higher-level position.
  • Proven experience estimating utility-focused construction and service projects, including substation equipment.
  • Ability to review and interpret specifications, scopes of work, and technical drawings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, time-management, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams to develop competitive, winning bids, with a solid understanding of business drivers, regulatory environments, and customer needs.
