Environmentalist

About the role

The Environmentalist I is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment in patient units and public areas. They ensure that patient rooms are cleaned promptly after patients leave, and they handle various duties including room cleaning, bed tracking, and supply replenishment.

Responsibilities

• High dusting, spot mopping corridors, cleaning baseboards and handrails, and reporting maintenance issues to supervisors.
• Daily patient room cleaning, including changing disposal can liners, dusting, disinfecting, and making beds.
• Cleaning patient rooms after discharge, including dusting surfaces, disinfecting, and making beds.
• Responding to dirty beds and utilizing Bed Tracking software.
• Replenishing supplies in patient units and public areas as needed.
• Morning work in common areas on patient units, including cleaning restrooms, elevator lobbies, nurses' stations, and break rooms.
• Using prescribed safety methods when cleaning isolation rooms.
• Dusting, wet mopping, emptying trash, and dusting surfaces in ancillary areas.
• Attending daily shift meetings, bi-monthly supervisory meetings, and monthly department meetings.
• Reporting unsafe conditions and items needing repair or further attention to supervisors or Facilities Management.
• Providing excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and staff.
• Moving to different parts of the hospital as needed based on supervisor's judgment.

Requirements

No formal education, licensure, registration, or certification is required. Basic physical requirements include visual acuity, verbal communication, and the ability to lift up to 60 pounds.

Skills

The Environmentalist I should have the ability to use visual and verbal communication effectively, lift and move supplies and patients, and work in high-noise environments.

Pay

$18.85 - $28.30 per hour based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Full-time, open 24 hours/7 days per week, rotating weekends and holidays.
