About the role

Lathrop GPM is actively seeking an associate with at least 3 years of toxic tort, environmental litigation, and/or environmental regulatory counseling experience to join our well-established and growing litigation and regulatory practice.

Responsibilities

  • Defending and advising clients within the waste disposal, manufacturing, and energy development industry sectors in litigation, administrative enforcement, and compliance matters.
  • Defending toxic tort, citizen suits, and administrative enforcement actions in federal, state, and administrative forums.
  • Navigating environmental regulations and permitting under environmental laws including the Resource Conservation & Recovery Act, Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, the Toxic Substances Control Act and state-law counterparts.
  • Representing PRP in cleanups under CERCLA in collaboration with consultants and experts.
  • Interpreting and advising clients on regulatory developments and policy changes involving emerging contaminants and other evolving environmental issues and advocating for client interests.

Requirements

  • Experience with defending toxic tort, citizen suits, and administrative enforcement actions in federal, state, and administrative forums.

Pay

The current anticipated salary range is $200,000+. Actual initial salary may be above or below the identified range and will be based on relevant skills, training, experience, and other job-related factors consistent with applicable law.
