Environmental Technician
About the role
We are seeking an Environmental Technician to support our environmental operations and maintenance practice in the greater Cheyenne, WY area. The ideal candidate will have good mechanical and electrical skills, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Work under the supervision and mentorship of a Senior Environmental Scientist or Engineer.
- Travel to project sites primarily in the greater Cheyenne, WY area.
- Operate and maintain various remediation systems (groundwater and soil).
- Systems include pump and treat, air sparging and soil vapor extraction.
- Perform troubleshooting, routine and non-routine operations and maintenance (e.g., electric motors, mechanical pumps, electrical power supply systems, etc.).
- Collect and record field testing data.
- Communicate effectively with team members and vendors about equipment issues.
- Coordinate with outside vendors and subcontractors for required system spare parts, chemicals, and sampling kits.
- Think proactively to prevent maintenance issues and ensure system reliability.
- Spread tasks across multiple sites to meet compliance requirements.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 + years of experience in construction, equipment operation and maintenance or remediation system maintenance.
- Good mechanical skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Good communicator with the ability to detail and explain equipment issues to team members and vendors.
- Flexible to work outside normal business hours as required.
- Able to understand procedural manuals and execute work orders.
- Attention to detail.
- Able to follow directions.
Qualifications
- OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour certification preferred.
- High-level mechanical and electrical aptitude preferred.
- Experience operating and maintaining soil vapor extraction (SVE), groundwater capture, adsorption (granular activated carbon, ion exchange, etc.), In-Well Air Stripping (IWAS), and chemical oxidation (e.g., hydrogen peroxide/ozone, permanganate, persulfate, etc.) systems preferred.

Schedule
Roughly 95% of work is anticipated to be performed in the field. This is a full-time benefitted position.
