Environmental Technician

Responsibilities

• Separate line side recyclables per standards set by the Lead Resource Manager.
• Collect trash, recyclables, hazardous waste, scrap metal and other waste streams throughout the plant and transport to disposal container or storage room.
• Segregate, sort and package waste streams for off-site shipment.
• Load semi-trailers and roll-off boxes for shipment to recycling centers and any other disposal site.
• Document and inform Resource Manager of any contamination in plant’s recycling and waste containers.
• Maintain necessary documentation of waste/recycling inventories, inspections and other activities as required.
• Operate fork truck to load/unload trucks, etc.
• Follow all plant-related safety guidelines.
• Responsible for additional duties assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or GED.
• Previous experience handling/disposing of plastic and recycling.
• An equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
• Ability to read and understand basic equipment operating instructions, safe work protocols and adhere to the personal protection requirements of the assigned job.
• A valid driver's license.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Ability to pass a drug test.

Preferred Qualifications

• A minimum of one year in an industrial, manufacturing setting or waste management setting.
• A current Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), desired; will be provided upon hire.
• A current 40-hour HAZWOPER, will be provided upon hire.
• A current Fork Truck Operator Training, desired; will be provided upon hire.
