Job Overview

We are seeking mission-driven Environmental Sustainability Specialists to oversee and advance eco-efficiency programs. Your work will directly support national clean energy mandates and the transition to net-zero federal operations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Align site operations with DOE Orders, Federal Sustainability Plans, and executive orders on climate resilience.
  • Monitor and report greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories utilizing federal carbon accounting frameworks.
  • Collaborate with facility engineers on microgrid, renewable energy, and smart-meter implementation projects.
  • Manage compliance for hazardous and non-hazardous waste diversion, focusing on federal circular economy targets.
  • Design and execute water-use efficiency programs for complex facility infrastructure and cooling systems.
  • Agregate facility utility and emission data to complete mandatory annual Federal Automotive Statistical Tool (FAST) and sustainability dashboards.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a closely related technical field.
  • Experience: 3-5+ years managing sustainability or environmental compliance programs, preferably within federal or highly regulated sectors.
  • Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE 'L' or 'Q' security clearance as required by the facility.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Greenhouse Gas Protocol guidelines and federal data management systems.

Preferred Skills & Credentials

  • Certifications: Certified Energy Manager (CEM), LEED AP, or Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) training.
  • Agency Knowledge: Direct familiarity with DOE Order 436.1 (Departmental Sustainability) and related federal site handbooks.
