Environmental Sr. Specialist

About the role
As an Environmental Sr. Specialist within the manufacturing industry in Georgia, GA, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our operations comply with environmental regulations and sustainability standards. Your primary focus will be to develop, implement, and monitor environmental programs that minimize the ecological impact of manufacturing processes. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify environmental risks and opportunities for improvement, driving initiatives that promote resource efficiency and waste reduction. This role requires continuous assessment of environmental performance and reporting to both internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies. Ultimately, your efforts will contribute to the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable manufacturing practices.
Responsibilities
- Assess and reduce environmental pollution caused by manufacturing processes and equipment (design, construction, operations, maintenance, and disposal).
- Monitor and report whether emission facilities and disaster prevention facilities meet authority/permission regulations.
- Establish and implement environmental management standards, procedures, and guidelines (air, water quality, waste, soil, marine environment, greenhouse gases).
- Establish management strategy and implement it to maintain environmental emission prevention facilities (air, waste, wastewater, chemicals).
- Research air/water quality monitoring companies and draw up contracts.
- Develop and track waste reduction and recycling programs.
- Establish management criteria for waste storage, transportation, and treatment.
- Monitor waste disposal vendors to treat waste through guidelines.
- Manage SDS and comply with guidelines.
- Review authorization and permission regulating changes in quantity and concentration of chemical substances.
- Train operators on cell discharge room operation.
- List up and purchase necessary equipment.
- Report work environment status to government agencies and take follow-up measures.
- Liaise effectively with state authorities, customers, and local communities through constant communication and provide environmental information if required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science or equivalent.
- 5 years of relevant experience in EV battery, auto parts, automobile industry, or similar high-volume manufacturing.
- Battery manufacturing experience (preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification for the environment (preferred).
- Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar programs (preferred).

Work Environment
- Office Environment: Must wear company-provided uniforms.
- Production Site: Must wear company-provided uniform and PPE including safety shoes, helmet, safety glasses, and portable gas measuring device.
- Usual office environment, production, and construction sites.
- Risks include noise (above 90 dB in compressor room), high temperatures (104–122°F in various rooms), and potential exposure to hazardous materials (e.g., heating medium oil, NMP, water treatment chemicals).
