Environmental Specialist

About the role

The Town of Marana is seeking an Environmental Specialist or Environmental Technician to join the Development Services Department. This is a full-time position offering a competitive benefits package.

Responsibilities

• Conducts monthly inspection scheduling, mapping, and inspections for private and public projects as well as inspections of the Town's facilities in coordination with the Environmental Project Manager for the implementation of the Stormwater Management Program.
• Maintains the Town’s post-construction stormwater features database.
• Reviews engineering plans, stormwater plans, and technical documents for compliance with environmental, cultural, and stormwater regulations and attends pre-application and pre-construction meetings.
• Affords environmental permitting for Capital Improvement Projects.
• Facilitates outreach events for citizens and staff; represents the Town at various environmental meetings.

Requirements

• Environmental Technician:
  • Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree. Over six months of experience in stormwater inspections, environmental programs, compliance permitting, or a closely related field.
  • Additional Requirements: Valid Arizona Driver's License. Must complete a pre-employment Physical. Must complete both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Associate’s degree in natural science, environmental science, engineering, or a closely related field.
• Environmental Specialist:
  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. Over three years’ experience in stormwater inspections, environmental programs, compliance permitting, or a closely related field.
  • Additional Requirements: Valid Arizona Driver's License. Must complete a pre-employment Physical. Must complete both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in natural science, environmental science, engineering, or a closely related field. Certified Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System Specialist. Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control.
