About the role
The Environmental Specialist will support an onshore drilling campaign in the NPRA block, Alaska, focusing on two firm wells using two rigs. The role involves ensuring full compliance with environmental regulations, conducting baseline studies, managing assessments, and overseeing various aspects of drilling, completion, testing, and potential frac/flowback activities.
Responsibilities
- Define the Environmental Permitting Plan for drilling activities.
- Manage environmental baseline studies and Environmental Impact Assessments.
- Support stakeholder identification and prepare the stakeholders' management plan.
- Monitor and report on air, waste, water, noise, soil, and groundwater programs.
- Conduct audits and ensure compliance with environmental requirements.
- Respond to environmental incidents and coordinate emergency drills.
- Prepare and manage environmental documentation for authorizations, permits, and notifications.
- Review and validate contractor documentation and provide technical advice.
- Operate within Alaska's environmental rules and regulations, addressing deviations and implementing corrective actions.
Requirements
- University degree in Environmental Science or Engineering with specialization in QHSE.
- NEBOSH certification or equivalent.
- Must comply with Fit to Work requirements for remote areas.
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience as an Environmental Specialist in O&G drilling, EPC, or construction projects.
- Proven experience as Environmental Coordinator in Alaska and the North Slope.
- Advanced computer skills: Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Strong safety leadership skills and focus on HSE and process safety.
- Clear, confident communication and strong ownership and accountability.
Qualifications
- Excellent written and spoken English (mandatory).
- Spanish communication skills (optional).
- 3 years of proven experience operating in Alaska.
- Advanced computer skills: Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Strong safety leadership skills and focus on HSE and process safety.
- Clear, confident communication and strong ownership and accountability.
Skills
- Proficient in HSEQ Management Systems: ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 9001.
- Ability to interpret EIAs, Environmental Monitoring Plans, and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of Alaska environmental rules and regulations and North Slope environmental sensitivities.
Benefits

Pay
$60/hr (W2), $70.09/hr (1099)
