Responsibilities
- Clean and supply patient rooms, treatment rooms, restrooms, utility rooms, nurseries, nursing stations, lounges, offices, waiting areas, and other assigned spaces according to department standards.
- Perform high-level, time-sensitive disinfecting and cleaning tasks in critical care areas, including discharge rooms, isolation rooms, the emergency department, and operative or invasive procedural areas.
- Complete terminal cleaning and other detailed cleaning assignments with a strong focus on infection prevention and safety.
- Perform specialty floor care, carpet care, upholstery care, and project work such as stripping and refinishing floors and extracting carpets.
- Use appropriate cleaning equipment, chemicals, and supplies safely and effectively.
- Remove trash and soiled linen from assigned areas.
- Maintain a professional image through communication, appearance, and conduct.
- Follow department procedures, quality standards, preventive maintenance expectations, and safety guidelines.
- Demonstrate strong customer service by supporting positive interactions with patients, visitors, and team members.
- Recognize and follow designated signs, symbols, and written instructions as trained.
- Support Linen Services operations as needed, including distributing and stocking clean linen, ordering and maintaining inventory, stocking carts, transporting linen carts, and maintaining linen rooms.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Required: Ability to read, speak, understand, and follow written and verbal directions in English; basic comprehension sufficient to understand job-related forms, documents, signs, symbols, and written instructions; ability to recognize urgent and emergency situations and communicate clearly so others understand.
- Preferred: High school diploma or GED; basic computer skills, including the ability to use email and complete computer-based training with minimal assistance; previous hospital, healthcare, hospitality, or housekeeping experience; experience operating cleaning equipment such as vacuums, extractors, bovac, and roto equipment; valid California driver’s license for team members authorized to operate Hoag vehicles.
