About the role
The Environmental Services Technician II performs a variety of cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, offices, hallways, and other assigned areas of the facility utilizing standard infection control practices and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Performs wet mopping of all patient care areas, damp dusting furniture and fixtures, and cleaning of air ducts and vents.
- Performs terminal cleaning procedures in operating suites before and after each surgical procedure and at the end of each day.
- Cleans and disinfects all fixtures, equipment, floors, doors, and walls with clean, lint-free cloth and EPA-registered hospital-grade germicidal agent.
- Follows required procedures for handling, cleaning, disposing, or moving of infectious materials in accordance with OSHA Blood-borne Pathogen Standard.
- Cleans patient transport vehicles, including non-disposable straps and attachments using cloth moistened with an EPA-registered hospital-grade germicidal agent.
- Gathers and disposes of trash and waste materials using specified bags or containers.
- Operates various mechanized cleaning equipment such as vacuums, polishers, buffers, etc.
- Performs daily and as-needed cleaning of surgical support areas, including but not limited to locker rooms, staff lounge, storage areas, preop holding, post anesthesia care, and central sterile processing.
- Delivers linens according to pre-established par levels.
- Uses, cleans, and maintains equipment and tools properly.
- Keeps storage areas and carts clean and orderly at all times.
- Cleans, buffs, strips, and waxes floors.
- Follows established departmental and clinic policies and procedures.
- Performs actions that demonstrate accountability.
- Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills which promote a positive environment, teamwork, and loyalty to the organization.
- Presents behaviors and actions which create a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, physicians, vendors, and clinic staff.
- Demonstrates behaviors and actions which support the mission, goals, and operations of Shriners Hospitals for Children that also contribute to continuous service improvement.

- Communicates to the OR Director and/or EVS Supervisor all infection control issues.
- Participates in department meetings.
Requirements
- 1 year of related experience
- High School Diploma/GED
Schedule
3:30 PM – 12:00 AM (Midnight), Monday through Friday
Pay
Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
