Environmental Services Technician Housekeeping Days

About the role

Part‑time position (24 hrs/wk) on days (8:30 am‑5:00 pm) with rotating weekends and assigned holidays in Environmental Services at McKay‑Dee Hospital (Ogden, UT). The role performs general housekeeping to keep the facility sanitary, safe, and attractive while meeting hospital and Joint Commission standards.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect assigned areas using department cleaning procedures.
• Use cleaning chemicals properly according to Joint Commission and OSHA standards.
• Understand procedures and properly dispose of infectious waste and trash.
• Handle and clean up emergency spills per department guideline, Joint Commission, and OSHA standards.
• Follow all infection prevention practices (proper cleaning and disinfection, hand hygiene, standard & isolation precautions, proper donning and doffing of PPE).
• Maintain work and storage areas following established policy and procedures to ensure safety.

Requirements

• Prior hospital or healthcare cleaning experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to different units.
• Demonstrated exceptional communication, effective multitasking, and high level of initiative.
• Dependable, punctual, hardworking, adaptable, self‑driven, maintains a positive attitude, self‑starter, strong attention to detail and time management.
• Physical demands: stand/walk for 8 hours constantly, bend, get down and up easily, good hand dexterity, ability to bend and lift loads.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated communication skills to differentiate color‑coded labels and/or chemicals and to follow written and/or verbal directions.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule when needed to meet department needs.
• Demonstrated professional housekeeping experience (preferred).
