Environmental Services Technician

About the role

The Environmental Services Technician (EVS) at CHI Health Saint Elizabeth is responsible for ensuring a safe and sanitized environment for patients, employees, and visitors. The role involves cleaning and disinfecting various areas, operating equipment, collecting and disposing of waste, and completing discharge room cleans.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and disinfects patient, ancillary, and public areas as assigned daily following established procedures.
• Operates manual, battery-powered, and electric equipment such as mechanical floor cleaners and vacuums, maintaining and storing equipment safely.
• Collects, handles, and disposes of designated waste streams and soiled linens in the prescribed manner.
• Completes stat and routine discharge room cleans.
• Identifies and reports work orders for maintenance/refurbishing needs.
• Inspects EVS equipment for cleanliness and need for repair.

Requirements

• No experience required.
• Preferred: High School Diploma.

Qualifications

• Understands the importance of sanitizing and disinfecting different environments.
• Appreciates the cleanliness of the hospital and its impact on the community.
• Willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).

Skills

• Attention to detail.
• Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy objects.
• Knowledge of hospital cleaning protocols and equipment.

Schedule

48 hours per week, rotating schedule: Wed-Thurs 3 weeks & Th-Sun Thurs Friday 1X/month, Evening shift.
