The Environmental Services Tech will operate under the direct supervision of the Center Manager, and at times will take instruction from other managers and floor supervisors on site.

About the role

The Environmental Services Tech is responsible for the safety and cleanliness of the facility and is required to understand the proper handling and disposal of biohazard waste through compliance with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, state regulations, and the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Manual guidelines and any other applicable regulatory standards. This position is exposed to hazardous materials and a variety of infectious diseases.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cleaning of public areas, donor beds, and ancillary areas to ensure a clean, safe, and attractive environment for staff, donors, and visitors
  • Clean and disinfect assigned areas using department cleaning procedures
  • Use cleaning chemicals properly
  • Understand procedures and properly dispose of infectious/biohazard waste and trash throughout the facility
  • Maintain cleanliness of the biohazardous waste room
  • Maintain work and storage areas following established policy and procedures to ensure safety
  • Use supplies appropriately and effectively
  • Restock supplies in all donor areas
  • Assist with unstocking supplies, distribute deliveries, and break down cardboard throughout the facility
  • Communicate issues to center management and/or other necessary parties
  • Assist in shipment of product from the center
  • Available to travel up to 25 miles to other facilities for training or assisting other centers' staffing needs
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school degree or GED required
  • Housekeeping experience preferred but not required

Physical Requirements

  • Read computer screens, procedure manuals, and other documents
  • Hear doorbells, alarms, telephone, and other mechanical devices
  • Work confidently while being observed during frequent quality inspections
  • Work in walk-in subzero freezer(s)
  • Ability to lift, pull, tug up to 50 pounds to stock supplies and/or move to support donors
  • Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle and feel objects, tools, and controls; reach with hands and arms
  • Vision abilities required by this job, including close vision
  • Required to stand for extended intervals, walk, climb and balance; stoop, kneel, and crouch
  • Physical ability to operate equipment used that may require repetitive motion and manual dexterity
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) required such as eyewear, lab coats, and gloves
