Environmental Services Tech As Needed

About the role

The Environmental Services Tech I is responsible for executing the daily duties required to establish and maintain a safe, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing care environment. This includes completing as assigned, daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and other common areas. Duties also include performing low and intermediate level disinfection, adhering to safety and infection control guidelines, and collaborating with the patient care team.

Responsibilities

• Completes daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and other common areas.
• Demonstrates a working knowledge of healthcare cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements.
• Ensures timely room turnovers related to patient throughput within the basic principles of environmental hygiene and infection prevention.
• Maintains a safe chemical use and equipment handling for all items within the healthcare environment.
• Adheres to all organization safety, risk management, and infection control guidelines.
• Might be asked to perform tasks such as conference room set-ups, cleaning of stairwells and elevators, and hanging of cubicle curtains.
• Might be asked to mentor new Environmental Services Tech I employees.
• Collaborates with others as part of the patient care team.

Requirements

• Strong communication skills; ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Can distinguish the differences between levels of disinfection and perform low and intermediate level disinfection.
• Knowledge and skills in the use of power equipment, conventional and high-speed floor machines, carpet cleaning equipment, wet, dry and power vacuum equipment and push sweeper.
• Ability to operate necessary equipment/machines.
• Effectively uses computers and mobile devices.
• Respects and listens to viewpoints and ideas of others.
• Communicates openly and candidly, creating an environment where co-workers and team members reciprocate in kind.
• Ability to work without close supervision.

Physical Requirements

• Medium Work - Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly.

Pay

The posted compensation range of $17.00 - $22.71 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
