About the role
The Environmental Services Specialist-Campus (3) position involves performing a variety of routine and major professional cleaning duties in public and private spaces of the university. This role also includes responding to urgent cleaning needs as a result of spills or accidents, adhering to an established schedule to maintain cleanliness standards, and interacting with customers, visitors, students, coworkers, and others in a friendly, helpful, and professional manner.
Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of routine and major professional cleaning duties in public and private spaces of the university.
- Responds to urgent cleaning needs as a result of spills or accidents.
- Adheres to established schedule to maintain cleanliness standards.
- Uses professional cleaning products, equipment and techniques.
- Interacts with customers, visitors, students, coworkers and others in a friendly, helpful and professional manner.
- Affixes to assigned communication device to read and respond to texts, emails and service requests.
- Assists other team members with daily work and special projects.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Previous Housekeeping Experience Preferred
- Starting Hourly Rate: $15.00 hour
- Work Schedule: Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including Monday - Friday, 4:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Shifts are subject to change to meet the needs of the University.
Qualifications
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to read and write and be able to comprehend written and oral instruction; Ability to use personal computer, cell phone, tablet or other device with limited training; Ability to utilize email programs and applications necessary to perform job duties with limited training; Ability to work independently; Ability to work as part of a team; Interpersonal skills; Organizational skills; Prioritization skills.
- Experience: Previous Housekeeping Experience Preferred.
Personal
- Possess the necessary physical requirements, with or without the aid of mechanical devices, to safely perform the duties and responsibilities of this position to include: Lifting and carrying a minimum of fifty (50) pounds; Climbing stairs; Performing tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling and walking significant distances between and within buildings on campus; Working in confined spaces; Working within extreme temperature ranges.
