Environmental Services Professional/ Floor Care Technician
About the role
The EVS Professional/Floor Care Technician is responsible for daily floor maintenance, special cleaning projects in hospital, clinics and other properties, and using cleaning agents to maintain patient and non-patient areas. Responsibilities include stripping and waxing floors, shampooing carpets and furniture, disposing of trash and linens, making beds, and cleaning surface areas. The role requires developing a plan or schedule to keep floors shampooed and waxed, and may include weekend shifts based on facility needs. Basic knowledge and ability to maintain equipment such as auto scrubbers, buffers, sweepers, vacuums and wet vacuums is required.
Responsibilities
- Provide floor care and housekeeping duties within health center, clinics, and GRHC property, including buffing, scrubbing, waxing, shampooing, refinishing, and carpet care
- Clean and disinfect patient rooms and all assigned areas of the health center/clinic and property
- Dust, mop, and vacuum floors; dispose of waste and clean specialized areas
- Make beds and wash windows
- Work alone or as part of a team while maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy
- Exposure to disagreeable odors, communicable diseases, body fluids, and chemicals including cleaners and sanitizer disinfectants
- Perform other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous professional housekeeping or industrial floor care experience preferred
- Hospital cleaning experience a plus
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of health center staff
- Ability to lift and/or transfer a minimum of 50 lbs; manual dexterity; good balance and hand-eye coordination
- Frequent bending, kneeling, and reaching; ability to work off a ladder; self-motivation
- Basic computer knowledge is a plus
Schedule
Full-time 1.0 FTE (40 hours/week), Monday–Friday 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m. Hours subject to change to meet the needs of Grant Regional Health Center.
