About the role

Environmental Services Technician at Luverne Medical Center (1600 N Kniss Ave, Luverne, MN 56156) maintains a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Empty waste baskets, sweep, scrub, wax, or polish floors using brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
• Demonstrate knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools, and techniques in a healthcare environment to provide a clean and sterile environment.
• Clean patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
• Wear proper protective equipment following guidelines.
• Keep storage, equipment, and carts well‑stocked, clean, and tidy.
• Use pagers and other technology appropriately when needed.
• Assist in laundry areas as appropriate.
• Perform physical activities including considerable use of arms and legs, moving whole body (climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, handling materials).
• Lift and/or move up to 40‑50 lbs and push/pull variable weight limits on flat surfaces or up/down ramps.
• Be on feet for the majority of the shift; may be exposed to equipment noise.
• Work hours vary based on patient/resident needs, may include overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
• Ability to use computer and prior cleaning experience helpful.
• Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods, and cleaning chemicals helpful.
• Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills required.
• Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment preferred.

Pay

Salary range: $16.00 – $22.50 per hour.

Schedule

Shift: Rotating; Job Schedule: PRN; Weekly Hours: Varies.
