About the role

Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Environmental Service Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean work environment in assigned areas with a commitment to service excellence. The role is proactive in identifying and attending to needs, requires strong attention to detail, and involves clear communication with others. Responsibilities may vary depending on location, site requirements, and business needs.

Responsibilities

• Performs Environmental Services duties effectively and efficiently, completing all steps in the 7 Step Cleaning Process.
• Performs assigned duties according to quality standards to ensure a clean and comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Keeps cleaning cart, equipment, and storage rooms clean and organized, with all cleaning materials properly labeled.
• Properly and safely uses cleaning chemicals per manufacturer standards.
• Cleans offices, patients’/residents’ rooms, classrooms, common areas, restrooms, halls, food service areas, and any other areas that may require attention.
• Sweeps, mops, and vacuums hallways, stairs, and office spaces.
• Cleans light fixtures, ceilings, vents, walls, furniture, windows, and window coverings.
• Empties trash and garbage containers, including transporting waste to outside trash containers and handling recyclables.
• Replenishes supplies and materials.
• Moves furniture and sets up tables and chairs.
• Notifies leaders concerning any need for maintenance repairs.
• Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments.
• Applies all applicable OSHA and related local safety requirements to all assigned work.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in janitorial cleaning in a commercial environment required.
• Experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills required.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently.

Working Conditions

• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours may be required.
• Requires periods of sitting, standing, telephone, and computer work.
• Hearing: adequate to hear clients or patients in person, over the telephone, or through telehealth technology.
• Speaking: adequate to speak to clients or patients in person, over the telephone, or through telehealth technology.
• Vision: visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
• Physical effort required: occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 pounds, unassisted.
• Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens while performing job duties.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements; standing, walking, squatting, and sitting, with some lifting, pushing, and pulling exerted regularly throughout a workday.
• Sufficient dexterity to operate a PC and other office equipment.
