Environmental Service Professional II- Full Time (PM Shift- 2pm-10pm)

About the role

Environmental Services is front-line infection prevention responsible for performing services in accordance with established organizational policies and procedures to provide a safe environment. This includes demonstrating principles of cleaning, disinfection, and quality assurance to reduce harmful pathogens for the benefit of patients, visitors, and staff.

This position will be cross-trained to independently and competently perform in two or more identified areas based on shift, after completing at least six months of service in Munson Medical’s Environmental Services Department.

Standing and walking much of the day. May require bending, stretching, climbing ladders, lifting, pulling, and pushing. Use of products that are potentially harmful if used improperly—must follow all manufacturers’ instructions on chemical dilution and usage. Personal protective equipment (gloves, goggles, face shield, gown, mask, and hardhat) must be worn as situation warrants and defined in the Safety Standard Act. Must follow all department, hospital, and regulatory agency guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Disinfect and clean assigned areas as per Environmental Services procedures to control the growth of microorganisms.
• Meet quality expectations, including maintaining under 45-minute turn times for dismissal turnover cleaning and a high-touch cleaning compliance rate of 70% or higher.
• Demonstrate competency in:
  • Dismissal Cleaning
  • Behavioral Health Isolation
  • Terminal Clean
  • Waste Management
• Prepare patient rooms for new admissions by staging the room in an aesthetically pleasing way.
• Remove trash, recycling, confidential (HIPAA) information, and soiled linen from floors using a utility cart.
• Replace sharps containers in patient rooms, procedure rooms, and soiled utility rooms.
• Transport furniture, equipment, clean linen, and supplies.
• Maintain cleaning cart(s), supplies, and equipment by properly stocking and restocking in a neat and orderly fashion.
• Operate and properly maintain all EVS tools and equipment needed to clean and disinfect the environment.

Requirements

• 6 months of hospital environmental service/housekeeping experience (required).
• High School Diploma or GED (preferred).

Additional Information
