Environmental Service Aide II / 40 Hours / Day / BWH Environmental Services

About the role

Responsible for the safety and cleanliness of a hospital or other healthcare facility. This position does not require direct patient care.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, mops, waxes, strips, and polishes floors; vacuums and shampoos carpets.
• Dusts and polishes furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment.
• Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, door panels, windows, sills, blinds, and door glass.
• Empties, cleans, and sanitizes waste receptacles in assigned areas.
• Cleans and sanitizes restroom facilities and fixtures, including sinks, urinals, toilets, mirrors, walls, and drinking fountains; replenishes restroom supplies as needed.
• Picks up debris around the building.
• Operates and controls high and low-speed stripping/buffing machines.
• Sets up tables, chairs, and equipment for special events and normal hospital activities.
• Identifies and reports building maintenance needs in assigned buildings and facilities.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred (experience cannot substitute for this requirement).
• 2-3 years of experience working with cleaning equipment and chemicals used in hospitals and healthcare centers.
• Strong organization skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and comprehension skills.

Schedule

• 40 hours per week.
• Rotating weekends and holidays.
• Shift: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
• Days off: Tuesday and Thursday.

Pay

Pay range: $17.71 - $24.28 per hour (Grade 2).

Work Location

Onsite at 15 Francis Street.
