About the role

The incumbent is an interdisciplinary team member responsible for preparing and reviewing complex environmental documents, technical studies, and analytical reports to ensure compliance with CEQA, NEPA, and other environmental laws.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review complex environmental documents, technical studies, and analytical reports to ensure compliance with environmental laws.
  • Provide consultation recommendations and identify and analyze environmental impacts of transportation systems and projects.
  • Formulate, calculate, and quantify measures to mitigate biological, community, and land use impacts.
  • Work with consultants in the preparation and technical work of environmental documents.
  • Manage cost, scope, schedule, and project resources within their purview.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with internal project delivery partners, local partners, and interested parties involved with Caltrans' projects.
  • Investigate innovative solutions to meet project deliverables.
  • Complete job-related and required training as needed.
  • Respond to customer service inquiries.
  • Prepare technical reports and written and verbal correspondence.
  • Occasionally perform site visits, including remote areas, which may involve driving a personal or state vehicle on public roadways or on uneven terrain.

Qualifications

Knowledge of the transportation project development process from concept through construction is required. Strong oral and written skills are necessary, with the specific ability to prepare technical reports and written and verbal correspondence.
