About the role
Environmental Scientist supports environmental permitting, compliance, and natural resource management projects through field investigations, data collection, technical analysis, report preparation, and regulatory coordination. This position works closely with project managers and clients to provide environmental solutions that meet project objectives and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Conduct wetland delineations, habitat assessments, threatened and endangered species reviews, and other environmental field investigations.
- Collect, analyze, and document environmental data.
- Assist with preparation of permit applications, environmental reports, compliance documentation, and technical memoranda.
- Perform desktop environmental reviews using GIS, agency databases, aerial imagery, and other available resources.
- Support environmental permitting efforts and agency coordination activities.
- Conduct field surveys and prepare field notes, maps, photographs, and supporting documentation.
- Assist in project planning, scheduling, and regulatory research.
- Maintain compliance with company health and safety procedures.
- Support client meetings, project presentations, and proposal development efforts as needed.
- Travel to project sites as required.
Requirements
- 0-5 years of environmental consulting, scientific research, or natural resources experience.
- Experience with environmental field work and technical report preparation preferred.
- Understanding of environmental regulations and permitting processes.
- Familiarity with wetland delineations, ecological surveys, habitat assessments, and environmental compliance.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and GIS software preferred.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and navigate undeveloped terrain.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk long distances over uneven terrain.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to perform field work in remote locations and adverse weather conditions.
