Responsibilities
- Perform field work including wetland delineations, stream assessments, tree surveys, Phase I ESAs, and compliance inspections.
- Prepare delineation reports, functional assessments, Jurisdictional Determinations (JD) requests, Perennial Flow Determinations (PFD), Water Quality Impact Assessments (WQIA), and compliance/monitoring reports.
- Coordinate and lead wetland delineations, stream assessments, tree surveys, and Phase I ESAs.
- Prepare permit applications (JPA and PCN) under Sections 408/404/401/10 of the CWA to obtain permits for impacts to jurisdictional features.
- Prepare permit applications under NPDES Section 402 of the CWA to obtain permits for land disturbance and prepare Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP).
- Complete database reviews and background research to support the NEPA document development process and assist in the preparation of NEPA documentation.
- Conduct Threatened and Endangered (T&E) species inventories and database reviews to prepare Section 7 Project Review Packages and coordinate potential Time of Year Restrictions (TOYR).
- Conduct cultural and historic resources database reviews to prepare Section 106 technical reports.
- Coordinate with state, federal, and local regulatory agencies.
- Conduct permit and NEPA compliance monitoring during construction.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Studies, Forestry, Wildlife Biology, Geology, or a related field.
- 4-8 years of experience with the MDE and other local, state and federal permitting agencies.
- Experience with environmental regulations, permitting, and planning.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to perform in a collaborative environment and lead a project team.
Skills
- Environmental certifications including Professional Wetland Delineator (PWD), Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS), ISA Certified Arborist, or similar certification.
- Hands-on experience with environmental assessment processes and ArcGIS.
- Knowledge of stormwater and environmental regulations and permitting.

Pay
The salary range for this position is: $81,000 - $104,000*
Schedule
Jobs and locations may require overnight travel and ability to walk over uneven terrain while carrying equipment.
