Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage project financial performance including labor forecasts, subcontractor management, change orders, earned value, and monthly financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements, quality management systems, and health and safety procedures.
- Mentor junior engineers, geologists, and scientists through technical review, field oversight, and career development.
- Manage Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) investigation and remediation projects from project planning through project closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and risk management strategies.
- Cook up directly with Department of Defense (DoD) project contacts, regulators, subcontractors, and client representatives.
- Lead preparation and review of technical documents such as: Work Plans, Uniform Federal Policy for Quality Assurance Project Plans (UFP-QAPPs), Sampling and Analysis Plans, Remedial Investigation/RCRA Facility Investigation (RFI) Reports, Feasibility Studies/Corrective Measures Decision Documents, Remedial/Corrective Measures Design Packages, Operations & Maintenance (O&M) reports, Long-Term Monitoring reports.
- Evaluate site data, update Conceptual Site Models (CSMs), and develop technically sound recommendations for investigation and remediation.
- Manage field implementation including drilling, well installation, groundwater sampling, remediation system construction, startup, optimization, and performance monitoring.
- Identify opportunities to improve project efficiency through optimized investigation strategies and remedial technologies.
- Support proposal preparation including technical approaches, basis of estimate development, staffing plans, cost estimating, and client presentations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a science such as engineering, geology, hydrogeology, biology, chemistry or similar with professional registration where appropriate.
- 10 years’ experience with environmental characterization or remediation work; 5 or more managing environmental investigation and remediation projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing federal environmental remediation projects for agencies such as Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC), USACE, Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), or other federal clients.
- Management of projects under RCRA and CERCLA and experience optimizing sampling programs and remedial actions/systems.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Professional registration in area of discipline, e.g., PE, PG, PMP.
- Capable of performing physical field work.
- Must have or be able to obtain a valid Real ID.
- Must be capable of accessing DoD properties based upon a background check.
- Must have or be able to obtain OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training, CPR and Adult First Aid.
