Environmental Remediation Project Manager
Job Overview
APTIM is seeking an experienced Project Manager with extensive experience managing Federal cost plus and fixed-price performance-based remediation projects. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing projects associated with the characterization and remediation of sites impacted by various constituents of concern under CERCLA and/or RCRA, including but not limited to radiological contaminants and emerging contaminants such as PFAS and 1,4-Dioxane.
Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities
Verbal and written communication with clients, partners and APTIM leadership
Manage a multi-discipline technical team to execute projects for APTIM
Ensure client deliverables are identified and met through effective management of each assigned project component and its associated project staff
Supervise daily activities of project personnel including technical and administrative support and ensures that deliverables are produced on schedule and within budget
Travel to the project site as needed to monitor activities throughout project lifecycle
Identify and communicate staffing needs to APTIM leadership to resolve needs
Maintain awareness and ensure successful execution of required client invoicing and associated deadlines
Monitor and control costs
Coordinate required monitoring and reporting of project financial status to APTIM leadership
Coordinate internal training for project staff as needed to adhere to program or project requirements
Directing work associated with environmental projects and work documents
Identify, recommend and justify change orders
May have responsibility for multiple projects
Assist in preparing and updating all assigned project schedules, including subcontractors and material deliveries
Assist in pre-construction activities including take-offs, bid solicitation, bid review and assembly of final project budget
Ensure project safety needs and metrics are met
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in one of the interdisciplinary academic fields integrated into environmental sciences and/or environmental engineering, such as geology, hydrogeology, geophysics, etc.
Professional Engineer licensed under the California, or a Professional Geologist registered under the California (a plus but not required)
Minimum of five years of Project Manager experience in field services, experience with environmental compliance, restoration, O&M, monitoring and reporting
Minimum eight years of environmental investigation and/or environmental remediation project execution, which shall include both site characterization and remediation technologies
Experience with conducting environmental remediation in sensitive ecological areas
Experience completing remedial actions to facilitate property transfer (i.e., deed recordation, documentation of land use controls)
Demonstrated experience in successful cost, schedule and contract management of environmental restoration projects
Ability to quickly acquire a working knowledge of program- or project-specific laws, policies, procedures, and correspondence
Experience relaying technical subject matter to diverse audiences including Federal Government agencies, regulatory agencies, and general public
Experience on radiological environmental projects is a plus
Candidate must be a US Citizen to obtain base access necessary to support the projects
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training with current 8-hour refresher certificate preferred
Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Willingness to work occasional overtime, including weekends, to meet project deadlines
Ability to travel to project location(s); travel estimated at 20-30% annually
