Environmental Project Manager, Site Investigation & Remediation

About the role
We have an immediate opening for an Environmental Project Manager to join our expanding SI&R team in New Jersey. This role is ideal for a driven environmental professional passionate about solving complex challenges and growing our SI&R practice. You will collaborate with a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team, leveraging a 65-person SI&R team across VHB’s footprint for resources and technical support. The position is primarily office-based with occasional field oversight.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to develop creative, cost-effective, and compliant solutions for sites complicated by contamination.
- Manage diverse SI&R projects while maintaining and growing client relationships.
- Coordinate the preparation and review of project deliverables, including Phase I ESAs, Preliminary Assessments (PAs), desktop due diligence memos, site investigation reports, evaluations and corrective action alternatives, soil management plans, and corrective action plans.
- Mentor and develop junior staff, including coaching on field procedures, task and budget management, and promoting a positive client experience.
- Represent VHB through participation in professional organizations, conferences, and community engagement.
- Stay current with regulations, emerging contaminants, evolving technologies, and industry trends.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental/Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 5-8+ years of professional experience in environmental consulting and site remediation.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and managing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and Preliminary Assessments (PAs).
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER and current 8-hour refresher certification required.
- In-depth knowledge of NJDEP regulations and environmental due diligence requirements.
Qualifications
- PE, PG, or LEP licensure preferred.
- On track to obtain LSRP when eligible, preferred.
- Established positive relationships with NJDEP and EPA Region 2 strongly preferred.
- Experience with natural sciences, wetlands, ecological assessments, or related environmental permitting is a plus.
- Brownfield investigation and remediation experience a plus.

Pay
Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New Jersey is $90,000-$110,000, determined by job-related factors including skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, and geographic location.
