Environmental Project Manager - Remediation
About the role
AECOM is seeking an Environmental Remediation Project Manager to lead and manage environmental remediation, assessment, and oil & gas projects from initiation to completion. The successful candidate will contribute to AECOM’s mission of delivering sustainable and innovative solutions for clients.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage environmental remediation, assessment, and oil & gas projects from initiation to completion.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Apply technical knowledge to address environmental challenges, including remediation, groundwater contamination, soil treatment, waste management, and environmental compliance for oil and gas facilities, refineries, and industrial sites.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
- Ensure excellent customer service and timely communication regarding project updates, risks, and outcomes.
- Stay up to date with environmental laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Manage and lead a team of professionals within the local office.
- Provide mentorship, training, and career development support to junior engineers, geologists, and project staff.
- Support business development efforts by identifying new opportunities.
- Assist with proposal development, contract negotiations, and client presentations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6+ years of experience in site investigation, remediation, project management, and business development, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education.
- US Citizen or US Permanent Resident.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Successful candidate will have to pass a drug screen and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in site investigation, remediation, project management, and business development.
- Licensed in the State of West Virginia or nearby states (Professional Engineer or Geologist).
- Experience working with state regulatory agencies in West Virginia or surrounding states.
- Experience in team management and scheduling of staff and resources to ensure on-time and on-budget project delivery.
- Proven experience in business development.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certified (current), including 8-hour Supervisor training.
- PMP certification.
- Experience with regulator and stakeholder negotiations.
- Demonstrated success in managing environmental projects for various types of clients.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience preparing proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and change orders.
