About the role
Hydrogeologist and Environmental Project Manager for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), in our Pittsburgh, PA Office.
Responsibilities
- Field and office support on projects related to environmental site characterization and hydrogeologic investigations, including pumping and slug test data collection, drilling oversight, data evaluation and interpretation, groundwater modelling, and assisting with report preparation.
- Work with senior hydrogeologists and receive training in aquifer test analysis, digital groundwater modeling, and fate and transport modeling, as needed, to develop the skillset required to succeed as a hydrogeologist.
- Prepare environmental data tables, drilling logs, potentiometric and/or contaminant contour maps, and assist with preparation of reports to present and interpret compiled data.
- Oversee and document drilling of exploratory borings and installation of groundwater monitoring wells, including preparation of boring logs and well completion diagrams.
- Collect or supervise the collection of soil, surface water, and groundwater samples for analysis of chemical composition.
- Conduct aquifer testing (e.g., pumping tests) and interpret aquifer test data.
- Plan and implement single-well permeability tests and assist with the planning and implementation of multi-well pumping tests.
- Evaluate aquifer test data and perform digital groundwater modeling using Aqtesolv, MODFLOW, and/or MT3D.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Geology with Hydrogeology emphasis preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Geology with Hydrogeology emphasis will be considered.
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety plans, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
- Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to use MS Word processing and Excel spreadsheet software.
- Experience with Aqtesolv, MODFLOW, and/or MT3D software.
Qualifications
- Ability to travel (10 - 25%).

- Knowledge of geochemistry and hydrogeology.
- Proficiency in MS Word processing and Excel spreadsheet software.
