Description
The incumbent in this position is required to report to work in DEC’s Albany, NY office. This position is in the Division of Fish & Wildlife (DFW), which is responsible for stewardship and conservation of fish and wildlife in New York State. Specifically, the position is in the Information and Data Management Unit (IDMU), which provides information systems support for DFW.
Duties
- Assist with the design, development, and implementation of business applications, automated workflows, and information systems using low code application platforms, Microsoft Power Platform, and SharePoint.
- Support Division of Fish and Wildlife legacy system remediation projects by working closely with biologists and other program staff to modernize legacy processes, improve data quality, automate routine tasks, and implement practical technology solutions that support natural resource management and conservation programs.
- Work as a bridge between technical and program teams to ensure systems meet the needs of staff and support the Division’s conservation goals.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).
- Preferred Qualifications: An interest or background in biology, ecology, or natural resources, along with an interest in long-term system improvement, is a plus. Experience developing solutions in low code app platforms, experience developing in Microsoft Power Platform, Dataverse, SharePoint, and/or Power BI, strong problem-solving, communication, and critical thinking skills with openness to experimentation, ability to learn, test, and implement digital tools and automation, passion for applied innovation in conservation science, and a desire to support the Division of Fish and Wildlife’s mission by modernizing tools and processes that protect, manage, and restore natural resources, curiosity and commitment to lifelong learning, especially around emerging technologies and process improvement.

- Travel may be required. Overnight travel may be required.
