About the Role
Under the general direction of the Assistant Division Chief for the Division of Environmental Planning (DEP), the Environmental Program Manager I (Managerial) serves as Office Chief for the Division of Environmental Planning. In this capacity, the incumbent oversees the development of comprehensive environmental studies, permit compliance, and fulfillment of mitigation commitments. The Office Chief manages the Office's resources, budgets, and staffing needs; reviews environmental documents, technical reports, plans, specifications and estimates (PS&E), and other records for accuracy and compliance with local, state, and federal laws. The Office Chief represents the District in matters of statewide significance and may serve as Acting Division Chief when delegated.
The incumbent attends and participates in meetings, conferences, and workshops to confer, advise, learn, and share technical and administrative information about project delivery and environmental compliance, ensuring the office meets its mandated requirements and strategic objectives, as well as preparing for forthcoming statutory, regulatory, legislative, and program changes.
Responsibilities

- Manage the Office's resources, budgets, and staffing needs.
- Review environmental documents, technical reports, plans, specifications and estimates (PS&E), and other records for accuracy and compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
- Represent the District in matters of statewide significance.
- Serve as Acting Division Chief when delegated.
- Attend and participate in meetings, conferences, and workshops to share technical and administrative information about project delivery and environmental compliance.
Requirements
- Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a State-owned or leased vehicle.
- Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment.
- If basing eligibility on education, unofficial transcript(s)/diploma must be included for verification. Unofficial, original, or official sealed transcripts will be accepted and may be required upon appointment.
- Applicants with foreign transcripts/degrees must provide a U.S. equivalency evaluation report indicating the number of units and degree equivalence. Visit NACES or AICE for a list of evaluation agencies.
- Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Environmental Program Manager I (Managerial) exam. For those without current eligibility, you must be on the state examination list to qualify.
Pay
$13,878.00 - $15,760.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
