About the Role

This Environmental Professional II/III position provides environmental support for facility and pipeline construction projects, ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental, safety, and health regulations. The role involves developing plans, practices, and procedures tailored to specific Business Unit needs, participating in project planning, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders. You will manage consultants, mentor new employees, and coordinate field inspections to identify compliance improvement opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Provide mentoring and onboarding for new employees, assisting with compliance requirements and organizational tools.
• Evaluate operating and project data to ensure accuracy and compliance with specifications.
• Coordinate field inspections at operating assets and construction projects to identify and address compliance improvement opportunities.
• Participate in internal audits of facilities outside your area of responsibility.
• Act as the primary company representative during agency inspections, handling verbal and written communications with agency representatives.
• Coordinate and facilitate environmental permitting for maintenance, growth, and large capital projects.
• Participate in evaluating and implementing emerging regulatory issues through industry associations or company regulatory guidelines.
• Provide regulatory applicability determinations and identify compliance requirements, escalating complex issues as needed.
• Facilitate multiple environmental programs within operating assets or construction projects.
• Utilize and improve established procedures and tools to demonstrate compliance.
• Evaluate and interpret operating and inspection reports to ensure compliance obligations are met.
• Oversee field-based contract and consultant resources, including developing requests for proposals and evaluating work offers.
• Author or initiate permit applications for new construction and operating assets, reviewing permit conditions for consistency.
• Coordinate data management and environmental records within established compliance systems, ensuring accuracy and full compliance.
• Collect environmental field samples (air, water, and waste) for analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, natural science, engineering, or a related field, and/or a combination of formal education and relevant experience.
• Typically 3–5 years of related experience in environmental compliance.
• Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations and their applicability to operations.
• Ability to analyze, research, compile, and prepare permit applications, reports, and correspondence.
• Ability to evaluate, research, and interpret governmental regulations, equipment manuals, and company policies.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to apply math, algebraic formulas, and statistics.
• Excellent interpersonal, advisory, and communication skills, including technical writing and presentation abilities.
• Proficiency with office equipment and software, including Microsoft Office tools.
• Ability to operate relevant tools and equipment, including working in elevated locations (e.g., lifts).

Physical Demands

• Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.
• Frequent Activities: Standing, walking, talking, hearing, near and far vision, depth perception, color vision, handling, fingering, feeling, and use of CRT/computer monitors.
• Occasional Activities: Sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing (ladders/stairs), balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, tasting/smelling, exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust/fumes/gases, moving mechanical parts, potential electric shock, vibration, and loud noises.

Working Conditions

• Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
• Frequent exposure to well-lighted, climate-controlled areas and computer monitors.

• Frequent repetitive motion.

Travel

Travel to other locations is required. A valid driver’s license may be required based on assigned tasks.

Pay

Expected salary range: $101,000 – $151,000 per year.
