Environmental Operator

Position Purpose

The Environmental Operator is responsible for the operation of the site’s wastewater treatment and air handling systems. This role is integral in supporting the plant to run efficiently while managing environmental risks and costs.

Essential Functions And Basic Duties

• Maintain cleanliness of all responsible areas: chemical feed room, wastewater facility, effluent area in plant, scrubber areas, etc.
• Conduct sampling and testing as required by regulatory permits
• Monitor wastewater system and adjust the parameters as required
• Monitor and perform daily tests including pH levels of scrubbers, MLSS (solids) levels, chemical feed rates, etc.
• Perform visual inspections of DAFs, aeration tank, and scrubber flows
• Assist maintenance in troubleshooting repairs
• Maintain cleanliness of all responsible areas: chemical feed room, wastewater facility, effluent area in plant, scrubber areas, etc.
• Monitor chemical feed systems for leaks, air locking, or other issues

Qualifications

• Interested in developing wastewater and air systems knowledge with training
• Comfortable working independently once trained
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn troubleshooting of pumps, valves, etc
• Willingness to obtain wastewater certification a plus
