Environmental Operations Manager
About the role
Athorized by Atlas Technical Consultants, this position serves as an Environmental Operations Manager overseeing environmental operations at the East Hartford, Connecticut office. The role involves leading multidisciplinary teams, managing projects, fostering a culture of accountability, and driving business growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day operations of environmental projects across the full lifecycle (proposal, execution, reporting, invoicing)
- Manage large, complex projects with multiple stakeholders and subcontractors
- Ensure projects meet scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives
- Lead recruiting, hiring, and performance management efforts
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Develop and execute strategic growth initiatives and market expansion plans
- Align teams to deliver consistent, high-quality services
- Build relationships with clients, regulators, and partners
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities
- Support proposals including technical approach, staffing, and cost estimates
- Oversee project/client financial performance
- Maintain invoicing and accounts receivable
- Drive operational efficiency and profitability
- Provide senior technical review and QA/QC
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations
- Lead projects in areas such as remediation, compliance, due diligence, and industrial hygiene
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 15+ years of environmental consulting experience
- Experience in project management, operations leadership, and team development
- Strong background in environmental compliance, remediation, and due diligence
- Demonstrated success in business development and client management
- Proficiency with MS Office and project/ERP systems
- Expertise in Connecticut and Federal environmental regulations and industry standards (ASTM, etc.)
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience with proposal development, cost estimating, and pursuit strategy
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred
Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Professional Geologist (P.G.) preferred
- CT Licensed Environmental Professional (LEP) preferred
- Ability to travel (~20%) as needed

Pay
The pay range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Schedule
The schedule for this role is typically Monday through Friday, with occasional evening or weekend work as needed.
