Environmental Manager - Due Diligence

About the role

Antea USA, Inc. (Antea®Group) is seeking a Manager or Senior Manager experienced in merger and acquisition (M&A) consulting to support and grow its Integrated Due Diligence (IDD) practice both domestically and globally. The ideal candidate will manage sophisticated acquisition and divestiture projects, perform environmental due diligence, navigate complex deal teams, and manage client relationships with both existing and new clients.

As an IDD Manager/Senior Manager, you will support multinational clients across a broad spectrum of due diligence work, including contamination risks (e.g., Phase I ESAs and Phase II ESAs), operational risks (e.g., permit reviews and EHS material compliance reviews), PFAS issues, business risks, post-acquisition integration planning, and deal negotiation support.

This role involves working on transactions ranging from large strategic corporate acquisitions/divestitures to private equity and financial investments across sectors such as Energy, Technology, Insurance, and Manufactured Goods. This is a full-time role with up to 25% travel anticipated. Antea Group is flexible with respect to the location for the selected candidate within the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Lead the growth of Antea Group’s M&A services, including environmental due diligence (desktop reviews, Phase I/II ESAs, risk and liability assessments, and EHS material compliance reviews).
• Provide post-acquisition integration services, such as gap analyses, corrective actions, and onsite support through Antea Group’s Resource as a Service (RaaS) program.
• Support the growth and development of Antea Group’s IDD practice and collaborate with domestic and global colleagues (e.g., Inogen Alliance).
• Assist the practice lead in building and growing a high-performance IDD team, including mentoring less experienced colleagues.
• Lead complex due diligence consulting engagements involving multi-site portfolios and multi-person project teams locally, nationally, and globally.
• Work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment to build Antea Group’s technical teams.
• Ensure projects meet scope, budget, schedule, client satisfaction, and internal metrics.
• Support clients at the C-suite level regarding EHS risks, design due diligence programs around client risk profiles, and tailor services to client needs.
• Assist clients with deal negotiations, financing requirements, insurance underwriting, and risk valuations.
• Produce high-quality client-ready documents, including proposals and reports.

Requirements

• 10 to 15 years of experience in the Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHS&S) consulting industry, with 5-10 years of M&A experience.
• A degree in environmental science, geology, environmental engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in basic due diligence elements such as Phase I and II ESAs and EHS material compliance reviews.
• Understanding of the M&A life cycle, from investment thesis advising to acquisition due diligence, integration assistance, post-acquisition corrective actions, and exit strategies.
• Experience managing complex deal teams and supporting clients at the C-suite level.
• Strong organizational, writing, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with deal teams, including investment bankers, private equity firms, M&A legal counsel, and insurance underwriters.
• Self-sufficient with excellent proposal and report writing skills.
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship, now or in the future.
• Ability to satisfactorily complete a background check, pre-employment drug screening (as permitted by law), and baseline physical (for safety-sensitive roles).
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Skills

• Experience with Private Equity clients, investment banks, and/or the insurance industry (highly valued).
• Experience with Energy portfolio M&A projects, including downstream Oil & Gas acquisitions/divestitures (e.g., convenience stores/gas stations) and mid-stream Oil & Gas (e.g., refineries and terminals).
• Leadership, team management, coordination, and direction.
• Experience in Health and Safety, EHS compliance auditing, sustainability, and site investigation/remediation (highly valued).
• Responsiveness to client needs and expectations.
• Active engagement with M&A industry associations and thought leadership forums.
• Commitment to safety in all aspects of the job.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

• Sedentary to light work (typical office or administrative work).
• Frequently required to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods.
• Occasional lifting and carrying of low (under 25 lbs) to moderate (25-49 lbs) weight objects.
• Repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and/or fingers (including reaching).
• Subject to inside environmental conditions (protected from weather but not necessarily from temperature changes).
• Operation of a motor vehicle.

Pay

The annual salary range for this position is $85,000 - $120,000. Compensation will vary depending on the applicant’s job-related knowledge, skills, education, and work experience.
