About the role

Provides cleaning services to patient and non-patient areas.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all Standards of Behavior, exhibit excellent customer service skills, and function in a cohesive team environment.
  • Communicate with patients, visitors, and customers using designated scripting and engagement techniques.
  • Clean and disinfect patient rooms and ancillary areas, including bathrooms, public areas, corridors, medication storage rooms, and other designated spaces using appropriate chemicals and procedures.
  • Clean in-patient and non-patient rooms, including patient beds, furniture, light fixtures, ceiling vents, windows, window coverings/blinds, restroom/bathroom fixtures, IV poles, Murphy beds, and other equipment.
  • Maintain floors and carpets; replenish supplies as needed.
  • Remove bio-medical waste, trash, and soiled linen daily; change cubicle/window curtains as needed.
  • Operate equipment such as vacuum cleaners, push/pull cleaning carts, and climb ladders as required.
  • Complete patient room and bathroom cleaning daily to accommodate discharges/admissions using approved procedures, including Bed Management systems.
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies and federal, state, and local standards.
  • Comply with all Orlando Health policies, procedures, and safety directives, including Standards of Precaution, SDS, and Hand Hygiene.
  • Complete patient room cleaning using the 7-Step cleaning method for Environmental Housekeeper duties.
  • Complete all mandatory training and attend in-services.
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance and improvement activities.
  • Maintain productivity and volume standards established for the assigned facility.
  • Stay current with hospital and department policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and recognize similarities and differences between words and series of numbers.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers.
  • Good working knowledge of department-related computer systems, including Bed Management systems.
  • Capable of completing required mandatory educational training.
