About the role

The Environmental Health Specialist (Sanitarian) is responsible for protecting public health by ensuring the safety of food systems, water sources, and public environments within the CSKT jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts inspections of food establishments, water sources, and public environments to ensure compliance with federal, state, and tribal standards.
  • Investigates environmental health concerns and enforces applicable regulations.
  • Provides community education on environmental health topics grounded in federal, state, and tribal standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental health, public health, biology, chemistry, environmental science, occupational safety, or related field.
  • Coursework must meet eligibility requirements for REHS/RS credentialing.
  • Environmental Health degree accredited by EHAC preferred.
  • Experience in environmental health, public health, inspections, or regulatory programs, preferred.
  • Current credential as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist/Registered Sanitarian (REHS/RS) through the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA).
