NYCOA is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to join its team in Manchester, NH. This is an onsite position, and candidates must be willing and able to commute to the Manchester facility. The ideal candidate will be versed in common health and safety programs but will have a significant environmental focus. This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse team on complex challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and monitor environmental, health and safety programs to ensure the organization’s compliance with relevant regulations, including but not limited to:
    • Hazard Communication
    • Lockout Tagout
    • Confined Space Entry
    • Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure
    • Regulated waste management
    • Stormwater and industrial discharge
    • Industrial hygiene
    • The Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act
    • Job Safety Analysis
    • Incident investigation and risk management
    • Powered Industrial Trucks
    • Fall Protection and Prevention
    • First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens
    • Air permit compliance
    • REACH, RoHS and Conflict Minerals
    • Fire Prevention and Protection
  • Draft standard operating procedures, guidance documents, and deliver training to support the above.
  • Assist with audits, inspections, and propose corrective actions as needed.
  • Prepare reports for, and interact with, various regulatory agencies.
  • Support teams focused on, or affected by, various aspects of EHS.
  • Advise senior management on matters of EHS.
  • Monitor proposed changes in regulation and elevate as appropriate.
  • Be motivated, outgoing, and have positive interactions with individuals in all roles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental, health, safety or chemical engineering is preferred. Relevant experience may substitute.
  • 2+ years of experience in the EHS field required.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NHDES, CWA, CAA, RCRA and other federal, state and local regulations required.
  • Professional certification in EHS (CSP, ASP, CHMM or similar) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours, if required.
  • Must pass a drug test, physical and background check.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a leadership role.
  • Must be a self-starter and quick learner.
  • Professional judgment, consistency, and attention to detail are critical to success.
