About the role

The Industrial Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist serves as a resource to ensure all environmental, health and safety expectations are met as directed for the multiple U.S. sites designated. This individual provides leadership, coordination, and technical expertise in all areas of environmental, health and safety compliance to achieve excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains compliance with local, state and federal agencies for EHS
  • Monitors Safety, Environmental and Health Programs (LOTO, Hot Work, Hazard Communication, Ladder Safety, Lift Truck Safety, Contractor Safety, etc.)
  • Provides, coordinates, or directs all required Safety Training including new hires
  • Aids in evaluations and improving safe work practices and conditions
  • Chairs Safety Committee Meetings on all required shifts
  • Conducts First Responder meetings at a minimum of quarterly
  • Implements and maintains the Near Miss program
  • Aids in all Accident/Incident Investigations
  • Maintains EHS Calendar for timing of trainings and events

Qualifications

  • 3 years experience plus a Bachelors Degree or 4 additional years of relevant professional work experience in safety, environmental, health and hazardous waste in lieu of degree (minimum 7 years of work experience with HS diploma/GED equivalent)
  • 1 – 3 years’ experience working with vendors/contractors
  • Experience with / Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Windows, Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and Adobe)
  • OSHA 10- and 30-hours training certification
  • OSHA 501 & 511 training
  • Four-year college degree or two-year associate degree
  • Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or MESH (Manager Environmental Safety & Health)
