About the Role

This position will support the implementation and oversight of environmental, safety, and health programs and policies at the facility in Woodland, CA. Experience in industrial safety, training, field/site safety auditing, safety/industrial hygiene (IH) project management, and hazard identification and control is required.

Responsibilities

• Communicate, administer, and maintain existing safety and industrial hygiene programs, policies, and procedures.
• Continuously improve and expand upon existing programs by soliciting feedback from all stakeholders.
• Develop and deliver safety and environmental-related reports, training, and presentations.
• Consult with corporate Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) professionals to ensure consistency with company expectations.
• Conduct, monitor, and follow up on site safety and environmental assessments.
• Work with project site management to ensure compliance with regulations and consistency with company expectations.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve industry-specific safety and environmental programs.
• Provide leadership and direction in proactive safety-related activities.
• Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety or a related field (e.g., Industrial Safety, Construction Safety, Industrial Hygiene).
• At least five years of practical experience in safety for heavy industrial or power plant operations (schoolwork, internships, and co-ops excluded).
• Organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Working proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
• Expert knowledge of occupational safety and industrial hygiene regulations.
• Ability to function within a matrix organization where functional and business leaders share authority.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to pass a background check for authorized access to restricted information and areas as required by federal/state regulations.
• Ability to obtain a passport and travel internationally, as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

• CSP or CIH certification.
• Master’s degree.
• Extensive knowledge of electrical regulations and standards.
• Experience with safety management systems (e.g., OHSAS 18001, ANSI Z10).

• Wear protective equipment (e.g., hearing protection, hard hat, safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, flame-resistant coveralls, gloves) for up to 10 hours/day.
• Work in a noisy environment (with hearing protection).
• Walk/stand (with occasional breaks) for up to 7 hours/day.
• Work at heights (protected by guardrails and/or personal fall arrest equipment).
• Work in environments with exposures to magnetic/electrical fields, wood dust, coal dust, coke oven emissions, organic vapors, and/or metal fumes (all within OSHA limits).

Work environments include both a business office setting and project sites. At project sites, occasional exposure to outside weather conditions (cold/hot, wet/humid), moving mechanical parts/machinery, fumes, airborne particles, and vibration. Noise levels are usually quiet to moderate in the office but may become loud at project sites.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $103,000.00 - $155,000.00.
