About the role

The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of environmental, health and safety programs across all Dee Zee locations.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Environmental Health and Safety Manager in developing, implementing, and improving environmental health and safety programs.
  • Works closely with employees, managers, and cross-functional teams to identify hazards, improve safety practices, support environmental compliance, and strengthen Dee Zee's overall safety culture.
  • Assists with incident investigations, maintaining EHS records, and supporting SDS & chemical safety programs.
  • Assists with regulatory compliance, incident review, safety training, inspections, and documentation.
  • Coordinates safety-related training and exams, participates in safety committee activities, and supports emergency response planning.
  • Follows up on corrective actions and engages employees in safety initiatives.
  • Helps ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, DNR, ISO, IATF, and company requirements through program support and employee training.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in an EHS, technical, engineering, environmental compliance, government, or procedure-driven role.
  • Experience with environmental compliance programs, safety inspections, incident reporting, and training coordination.
  • Experience with regulatory documentation or corrective action tracking.
  • Experience with SWPPP, stormwater, hazardous materials, SDS management, OSHA compliance, and/or EPA compliance required.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical topics clearly to employees, managers, and leadership.
  • Strong technical and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulatory, safety, environmental, and company requirements.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • DNR compliance, DOT compliance, safety training records, or emergency response planning is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent technical, government, environmental, compliance-related, or procedure-driven experience may be considered.
