This is a paid internship with Furlani Foods, LLC, an industrial bakery operating in a clean, conditioned 24-hour facility 6-7 days a week. The candidate will have a flexible schedule, access to a computer, and a personal workspace.

About the role

This position is ideal for a second-year Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) student seeking summer work or a documented internship. The role involves 25% plant work and 75% office work.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a team to evaluate and develop procedures for Standard Work, assisting the safety trainer and Process Engineering Team in communicating changes.
  • Assist with job task time studies to document in standard work.
  • Attend weekly team meetings to provide progress updates, communicate needs, and identify opportunities.
  • Participate in safety committee activities, including GEMBA audits, incident investigations, job safety analysis, ergonomic evaluations, and demonstrating bakery safety specific to food safety and equipment.
  • Assist with the implementation of Standard Work and tabulate data in Excel spreadsheets to create concise productivity reports.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to evolving business needs.

Requirements

  • Completion of Environmental Health & Safety classes.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
