This is a paid internship with Furlani Foods, LLC, an industrial bakery operating in a clean, conditioned 24-hour facility 6-7 days a week. The candidate will have a flexible schedule, access to a computer, and a personal workspace.
About the role
This position is ideal for a second-year Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) student seeking summer work or a documented internship. The role involves 25% plant work and 75% office work.
Responsibilities
- Work with a team to evaluate and develop procedures for Standard Work, assisting the safety trainer and Process Engineering Team in communicating changes.
- Assist with job task time studies to document in standard work.
- Attend weekly team meetings to provide progress updates, communicate needs, and identify opportunities.
- Participate in safety committee activities, including GEMBA audits, incident investigations, job safety analysis, ergonomic evaluations, and demonstrating bakery safety specific to food safety and equipment.
- Assist with the implementation of Standard Work and tabulate data in Excel spreadsheets to create concise productivity reports.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to evolving business needs.
Requirements
- Completion of Environmental Health & Safety classes.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
