Environmental Health & Safety Co-Op

About the Role

The EHS Co-op/Intern will assist with maintaining and training Constellium’s operating systems related to the health and safety of personnel and the environment. This position offers the opportunity to improve the ISO 14001:2015 certified environmental program and help achieve and maintain the ISO 45001 management system. The role involves conducting training on EHS procedures, writing procedures, and assisting the EHS team and plant management in mitigating risks on the production floor. The candidate must be able to stand for long periods while wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to perform audits and training. This fast-paced position provides extensive knowledge and experience working with experienced Health, Safety, and Environmental professionals in a cutting-edge automotive Tier 1 manufacturing plant.

Responsibilities

• Support internal and external EMS/EHS audits, inspections, and assessments.
• Collect, analyze, and assess trend data to identify EHS improvement opportunities.
• Develop and deliver EHS training to Constellium employees, including environmental tasks and procedures.
• Assist with closing 8Ds (problem-solving) and corrective/preventative actions.
• Ensure closure or progress on open items such as Contained Hazards and EHS internal audit action items.
• Analyze energy usage to determine possible reductions.
• Implement sustainable recycling programs.

Requirements

• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word), with Excel experience being a must.
• Pursuing a degree or within one year of graduation.
• Ability to work autonomously after receiving sufficient instruction.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to assess priorities.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Interns and co-ops must complete a background check, drug screen, and physical before starting employment. Transcripts are required at the beginning of each new work term or semester. Additional work terms may be offered after graduation, up to one year post-graduation.
