Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update programs related to air, water, and solid waste compliance.
  • Cook up and conduct required sampling, testing, and reporting.
  • Track and implement changes in environmental regulations.
  • Prepare regulatory reports and renew environmental permits, business/agency plans.
  • Escort regulatory inspectors, coordinate/facilitate inspections, manage corrective actions, and complete associate reporting.
  • Coordinate and administer safety training programs.
  • Track safety compliance and training schedules.
  • Lead facility health and safety programs, including hazard assessment, incident investigations, emergency response, and the facility safety committee.
  • Develop and deliver EH&S compliance training to plant personnel.
  • Promote awareness and accountability for EH&S policies.
  • Provide updates and recommendations to plant management and corporate teams.
  • Lead and perform internal inspection programs to proactively identify compliance issues.
  • Cook up/support internal and external audits.
  • Maintain detailed records in the facility EHS management systems.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in environmental compliance/engineering (energy industry preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance practices.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency within Microsoft Suite Software (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and wear PPE as required.

Work Environment

  • Combination of office and on-site power plant settings.
  • Includes outdoor work, exposure to temperature/noise extremes, and occasional work at heights.
  • Must be able to climb, kneel, lift, and access plant equipment.
  • May require after-hours support.
  • May require occasional travel to other facilities.
  • May require other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.
